In Varna-Bulgaria at the Black Sea I couldn’t find any books. I walked for miles. But there were some antique shops with postcards. I bought this one and had the receptionist of the hotel translating it for me. Yes, it was a love letter. From 1960 and written in Bulgarian. It formed the beginning of Notre Coeur. 20x30cm/8x12inch.

Working on my humble site I found another hidden treasure that I never publicized. Actually, one of my favorites. Made in Bulgaria on a children’s book cover with several other pieces of children’s books. All elements found along the way. 20x30cm/8x12inch.

Henk loves to work but his administration is very poor. Another forgotten one. Also made in my studio Schakenbosch in Leidschendam in the autumn of 2016 but forgotten to place it on my site. 25x35x8cm.

Made this one in the autumn of 2016 but forgot to place it on my site. Wooden box with inlay of scrapwood. The camera was a gift and the glass negatives belonged to my father who worked for fifty years in the Academisch Ziekenhuis Leiden (AZL). The box is covered with paper from a 19th century encyclopedia and varnished with gloss varnish.

From May 10 till June 7 2017 I made a trip in Bulgaria using public transport. Meanwhile I made handmade collages with material found in book stalls, antique stores, streets or simply got it from the walls. This is nr. 27 and the last one of the series. With parts of a calendar, children’s book and postcard from Moscow.
